Temporary Legal Assistant
We are seeking a Temporary Legal Assistant to join our client's team! The Senior Legal Assistant supports attorneys by performing a variety of management functions, legal research, and factual investigations. This position requires significant independent judgment and may include supervising and training project assistants and paralegals. Ideal candidates are self-starters with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to providing high-quality client service are essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Examine, organize, analyze, and summarize information related to specific legal matters, and present findings in a logical and usable format.

  • Utilize firm software and practice-specific technology efficiently.

  • Investigate factual issues using various sources, including libraries, websites, client repositories, and external databases.

  • Maintain client, matter, or practice-group resources in electronic and/or hard copy format.

  • Prepare clear, well-organized written communications such as memos, emails, and reports.

  • Assist in all aspects of transactions or trials, including drafting legal documents, coordinating document productions, administering trusts and estates, and supporting real estate transactions.

  • Adhere to all firm administrative standards, including preparing and submitting daily time entries, attending administrative meetings, and maintaining accurate client and firm records.

  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers in accordance with firm procurement policies.

  • Train project assistants on project-specific duties and responsibilities as needed.

  • Perform legal tasks requiring significant independent judgment.

  • Develop procedures and systems to enhance the delivery of effective legal services.
    Experience and Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, with a minimum of five (5) years of paralegal or legal assistant experience in a relevant practice area.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and practice-specific legal technology.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High level of attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities; capable of making independent decisions on daily work tasks.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and handle complex assignments.

  • Demonstrates confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all work.

  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and Excel.

  • Maintains current knowledge of industry trends and developments in the legal profession.
